The Holmes Road PTA is a chartered member of the New York State PTA, which represents over 370,000 parents, teachers, students, and community members. A branch of the National PTA, NYS PTA is committed to speaking for every child with one voice.
At Holmes Road, the PTA follows the mission and purpose of the National PTA as well as the Vision of the Holmes Road School of Inquiry:
The Mission of the PTA
- To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
- To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;
- To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.
The Purposes of the PTA
- To promote the welfare of the children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
- To raise the standards of home life.
- To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth.
- To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
- To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
The Vision of Holmes Road-Buckman Heights School of Inquiry:
... is to develop caring, respectful, life-long learners who will work together to make the world a better place.
At the Signature School of Inquiry, we are drawing upon children's natural curiosities allowing them to research and explore their world. We foster the development of each child by providing a caring, respectful, and intellectually stimulating environment where all individual are accepted, and celebrated.
