CGI Communications (CGI) held their first annual “My School’s Cool” Video Contest as a way to engage the youth of our community while strengthening their relationship with the schools in Monroe County. The “My School’s Cool” video contest invited students in grades nine through twelve to submit a written or video essay about why their school is cool.

CGI received entries from West Irondequoit, Pittsford Mendon, Greece Odyssey Academy, Greece Athena, Greece Arcadia, and Greece Olympia.

Sam Purdell of Greece Odyssey Academy submitted the winning video entry. The grand prize is a 60-second video that will be produced by CGI for the Greece Odyssey Academy’s website. Sam will write the script and shadow CGI’s production team throughout the process.

Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks attended the contest announcement and said, “I would like to thank CGI Communications for developing and sponsoring this innovative contest that not only gets kids interested in multimedia careers, but encourages them to take an active role in their schools and community. Retaining our young talent is a collaborative effort. It has been shown that if young people feel as though they are an integral part of our community, we have a better chance of keeping them here upon graduation.”

CGI Communications is a local company that provides multimedia solutions and business services to municipalities, chambers of commerce, professional trade associations, destination marketing organizations, and private sector businesses throughout North America. CGI has 170 employees.
